I know it happens to all of us, well all women who have to leave their kids in someone elses care, but it still feels very lonely. I have been back to work for four weeks now and each day when I go to pick up Miss S at my sister’s house (her Nanny is watching S for me which is amazing!) I take her from the Nanny’s arms and S immeadiately turns her head to watch the Nanny. I try to get her to make eye contact with me but she just keeps her head turned smiling at the Nanny. Now I know it doesn’t mean she loves the Nanny more. Realisticaly I know that, but it still gives me a pang each night as I wait for her eyes to eventually find mine and to see that recognition and then the smile, unsually after the Nanny has left….
